About Kelpiegallery

Kelpiegallery presents photos of all types of Australian kelpie. All photos are taken by the same photographer. The purpose of this gallery is to display photos with the same type of image layout and information on each dog.

The Story

It all started in 2005, as an idea to document my dog at the time, and his closest relatives. I wanted images of the dogs with the same layout - a headshot and an image where the dog appeared from the side. Dogs were photographed. One day I had photos of 50 Australian kelpies without really knowing what to do with all of these photos. An idea for a web gallery began to take shape. It took a few years before the idea became reality and had a name, but in 2008 the Kelpiegallery as a website was published online.

Over the years, I have photographed dogs from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Australia. I have traveled throughout my entire country and I have also been to Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands for photos shoot of the breed.

The purpose of Kelpiegallery is to show the world this amazing dog breed. I want to show individuals from a variety of breeders and lineages, all with different exterior types and colors - to show the diversity of Australian kelpie. And I do this as the only publishing photographer on the Kelpiegallery website.

Thanks

I spend a lot of time at Kelpiegallery and many hours have became years. I just love it! I'm really passionate about the Australian kelpie and in this way I want to contribute to the dog breed through this gallery. There are an incredible number of people around the world who are very pleased with Kelpiegallery and show their appreciation in so many different ways. I thank you all - kelpie owners, breeders and enthusiasts - for everything you do for me and my Kelpiegallery!

The Person Behind

The person behind the Kelpiegallery is me - Sofia Olsson from Sweden. I’m born 1984 and live in the south west of Sweden. I have been doing photography since childhood and started in the 90's with a very simple analogue camera. As I wanted to take better pictures, my interest in photography developed. The cameras became more and more advanced and since 2004 I have been using Nikon photo equipment.

Dogs have been in my family since I was born and I have always had a big love for animals overall. I had my first own dog when I was 10 years old. It was a German Shepherd I called Boggas. With him, I started competing in various dog sports. It may not have resulted in any top scores, but he taught me a lot and I took the first stumbling steps into the big dog world.

I have trained and competed in a number of different dog sports with all my dogs. For me, it’s really fun to train and compete with my dogs. Today I compete in Swedish tracking (bruks) and obedience.

My Own Kelpies

Since 2004, I have only had Australian kelpies and currently own my fifth kelpie. Australian kelpie was a breed I had been curious about, even since childhood. However, it wasn't until the early 2000’s that I decided to find a kelpie of my own. I was just about 20 years old, when I bought my first, very own Australian kelpie, Cefeus Ea. He became the starting point for a life filled with dogs, and of course – the Kelpiegallery!
